Review: Boots No 7 Protect & Perfect Serum

My Mom swears by her Boots No 7 Protect & Perfect Serum, and while my skin does not show any serious signs of aging (I mostly have some fine lines around my eyes, and maybe one or two around my lips. Like I have mentioned, I have combination/oily skin though, so that could be why), I always thought an anti-ageing product could still do something for me, because who doesn't have rather dull skin from time to time, especially if you haven't gotten enough sleep for a while?
I also kind of figure that sometimes it is better to battle different conditions before you actually notice them, so I decided to give my Mom's favorite product a try too.

First of all, I like the texture of this serum, it's very nice, and it makes it a pleasure to apply this serum. The scent is rather neutral, but nice, so I think the Boots No 7 serum suits those who prefer unscented products too.

The serum doesn't make me break out or anything either, so it's nice to use it as a kind of moisturizer, but I must say this serum did not do any miracles for my skin in any way. The small lines I had before, are still there, and this is despite having used the Boots No 7 Protect & Perfect Serum for the 4 weeks that they recommend, since Boots say it takes around 4 weeks to see any results. It does absorb very fast though, so maybe I will keep using it for a while. I do have quite a lot left, after all, and maybe it takes longer for some to see results?

But as things are now, I probably wouldn't buy another tube. But maybe I should try this serum again in a few years?

Review: Boots No 7 Protect and Perfect Intense Eye Cream

I mentioned in my post about the basic Boots eye cream that I am trying out several eye creams at the moment, and now, it is time to give you my opion on the Boots No 7 Eye Cream I got recently: The Boots No 7 Protect and Perfect Intense Eye Cream, to be more specific.

I got this Protect and Perfect Eye Cream since I have been a huge fan of the Boots Protect and Perfect line since I first tried their serum, so I was hoping I might be as happy with the eye cream from the same line as well.

And the truth is that the Boots Protect and Perfect Eye Cream is pretty good, it works well and does hydrate your skin nicely, and actually combats fine lines and stuff like that, but it does have some disadvantages in my opinion, the main one being the color of the cream. Because this eye cream is not white, like most eye creams, but rather beige in color. Now, that might not be an issue for everyone, but it is for me, since the color is not very close to my natural skin tone, and it is also hard to blend the Boots Protect and Perfect Eye Cream with anything to change the color. So this basically means I can only use the eye cream at night, before I go to sleep, and even then, I have to wipe the area around my eyes when I get up, before I apply any make up or so. For me, this is not ideal, since I prefer eye creams that I can use all day round, with make up and without. So the Boots No 7 Protect and Perfect Intense Eye Cream turned out not to be the best eye cream for me, for this reason alone, since this really bothers me.

But the hunt for the best eye cream is still on! So I will be reviewing some other eye creams soon as well. Fingers crossed that at least one of them turn out to be what I am looking for!

Looking for the perfect eye cream, part 1: Boots Eye cream review

I will admit it. I don't like wrinkles around my eyes. But then again, who does, right? But I have found that good eye creams really help when it comes to keeping wrinkles and lines at bay, so I am currently looking for the best eye cream for me. Now, in order for you readers to understand what it is that I need, I should add that I do not have any issues with dark circles around or under my eyes, which I know is a common concern for some, so I am only looking for an eye cream that moisturizes the skin around my eyes, and evens out any existing wrinkles (not that many, so far, I am happy to say, but still, there are some) and prevents new ones from forming.

This is why I recently bought several new eye creams, and I will be reviewing them one by one, in my search for the best eye cream that I can. First up: a cheap, basic eye cream, by Boots. (I also got the Boots no 7 eye cream at the same time, but this is not a review of that, that will come later, instead, this review is for the regular Boots eye cream)

I think this eye cream is good for someone who is looking for a budget buy, since it does moisturize, but for me, it was a bit heavy, since I could see clear traces of it in the morning (I tend to apply eye cream at night, before I go to bed), which is something that I don't like, since that means I have to start the day by washing around my eyes, and I firmly believe that touching the skin around your eyes less is good, since the skin around your eyes is so thin, so I prefer not to mess with it when I don't have to.

But the Boots eye cream does it's job, and I assume it's a great choice for anyone with very dry skin around your eyes, it just didn't work for me, since I prefer lighter eye creams. But still, I would recommend this to those with need for something heavier around the eyes. Maybe it's partly an age issue too?
